Waves of Mercy, Waves of Grace
/"...Waves of mercy, waves of grace
Everywhere I look I see your face
Your love has captured me
O my God, this love, how can it be?..."
When I am out in nature, I can be overwhelmed with the untamed beauty all around. With our industrialized hyper techno world, we can numb our souls to the point where we have lost a sense of our creative nature. It’s never too late to recapture it. To be in touch with our soul and all the feels and emotions remind me of my humanity and the wonderment of God.
It’s like He’s the master artist who painted the skies and crafted each tree, flower and ocean breeze to connect to our 5 senses. Sometimes it’s just a feel good AHHHH sense we get. And other times, there is a prophetic call that seeks to awaken our soul to get our attention. The aim is to recognize the voice of our Creator sharing a message so unique to each one of us. It’s undeniable. God is wanting to communicate with us.
God Speaks
God speaks to me in Creation.
God speaks to me through song and the creative arts.
God speaks to me through our 5 senses.
God speaks to me through life’s experiences
God speaks to me through His word and His people.
God’s story is meant to intersect with our story.
Question is, am I, (are we) listening?
This summer, I am finding myself pressing deep upon deep to listen. I have done a TON of soul searching in my life and more reflection on my restoration journey more so lately. Writing has been a helpful tool to help me find center and express what’s in my heart. What am I hearing, what have I heard? What has the Spirit of God whispered to my soul to do, to be, to now write. As a result, I see the hand of God in my life more clearly.
Even in the tough times, the painful times He was/is there. Trials are opportunities for growth. (James 1:2-4)
When I’ve been hurt deeply by others close to me, He was there. This has been training ground to be a “minister of reconciliation”. (2 Corinthians 5:11-21)
And…when I could not hear His voice, feel his presence or see answered prayers… I He is always there. (Hebrews 7:24-26) I am grateful that my faith has grown to accept this timeless truth.
Seeking to be in His presence more and more has helped me maneuver some pretty life altering situations. Grateful for the imagery we find in nature to point us to the truths we find in God’s word. The Ocean speaks to this. It “mirrors God’s love- deep and endless.”
One of my happy places is a beach in places like Hawaii. Simply breathtaking. I could just sit and just gaze into them for hours. Waves crashing or rolling into shore speaks volumes. When anxiety or fear seeks to corrode my heart, I have that imagery of the ocean waves to help bring focus. Leads me to recite a verse from the Bible, a song lyric or just let the waves and it’s messaging still my heart. Ephesians 3 stands out to me today as I reflect on the words of the Apostle Paul and his message to the Gentiles.
As I sit here on my deck immersed in the beauty of the Saskatchewan praries- grace is sustaining me. I breath in waves of mercy behind my laptop embarking on a writing journey, seeking to mine the gemstones in my life to share with others, I sense my soul is dancing on the waves of mercy, or walking on the waters of grace. This is VERY timely, as this writing project can feel daunting some days! I have peace knowing that God is in this story of mine!
What am I writing? Well, I’m focusing on a theological memoir that is full of testimonies of grace in my life and prophetic insight I’ve received over the years through personal experience. This also includes some experiences in travel, one of which is the Pacific Ocean by Hawaii and Vancouver Island along with vast beauty of the Meditteranian Sea by Tel Aviv, Israel.
As long as we are able to, this prairie girl will take every opportunity to visit the ocean to visit family or on vacation. But, even if I don’t physically go there (or even if my senses are taken away), I know the word of God rises up within me because it is written on my heart. May I continue to write with the freedom and the joy that Christ Jesus has given me so freely. Not bowing down to the storms of life, the paralyzing strongholds of perfectionism or the many fears associated with writing, testifying or publishing. Nope. I’m trusting the Lord God, King of the Universe to finish this task with me. And for some more self talk: I will do so with JOY for He is my strength. (Jeremiah 8:10).
Can you relate? Who could use some more God talk with your self talk?
Dancing on the Waves- Lyrics Of We the Kingdom 2020 Holy Water Album
“I'm standing at your door
My heart is calling yours
Come fall into My arms
You're weary from it all
Been running for too long
I'm here to bring you home
I'm reaching out, I'll chase you down
I dare you to believe how much I love you now
Don't be afraid, I am your strength
We'll be walking on the water, dancing on the waves
Look up and lift your eyes
The future's open wide
I have great plans for you, oh, yes, I do
Your past is dead and gone
Your healing has begun
I'm making all things new, oh
I'm reaching out, I'll chase you down
I dare you to believe how much I love you now, oh
Don't be afraid, I am your strength
We'll be walking on the water, dancing on the waves
Dancing on the waves
Can you see us just dancing?
I set every star into place
So you would remember My name
I made it all for you
You are My masterpiece
You are the reason I sing
This is My song for you
Every star in the sky
I set every star into place
So you would remember my name
I made it all for you (My love, My love)
You are My masterpiece
You are the reason I sing
This is my song for you
I'm reaching out, I'll chase you down
Come on, I dare you to believe how much I love you, oh, I love you
Don't be afraid, know that I am your strength
We'll be walking on the water, dancing on the waves
Oh, we'll walking on the water, dancing on the waves”
